The mid Atlantic ridge is the force that pushes the lithospheric plates. The
plate boundry is called a spreading plate boundry. The land spreads apart and
new magma rises and cools to make a new ocean basin. So slowly over millions
of years the Atlantic ocean will get larger and the Pacific ocean will get
smaller because of the plate boundries you were talking about, the converging
plate boundries. There are large volcanoes, and earthquakes were the
converging plate boundries are located. The Pacific Rim of Fire is a big
example of what is happeneng.Does this explian it a little better?
