Bill: I, too, use MS-DOS and Macintosh stuff (as well as CP/M!) and highly regard my Amiga. I have a plain ol' 68000-equipped A500 with 5 megs RAM and it does nearly everything I want. My familiarity with Macs came away from home and I added the AMAX II Macintosh emulator to my 500. Now (except for color), my 500 does everything Mac-ish that I care to use. I still use MS-DOS machines a lot for text-based work and number-crunching, but am methodically moving much of that work to the Amiga. I use both the command line interface and the Workbench. I too think WB could be improved, and WB Version 2.0 looks very clean. In all, the Amiga is the most computer for the money I've ever purchased, and that includes a lot of computers. The Mac and PCs still do some things better, but in terms of overall costs-benefits, certain areas like DTP and DTV (or multimedia, if you prefer), and in terms of sheer fun, the Amiga can't be beat, in my estimation.
