Price Cuts?
I never said that Commodore was doing no work on bridgeboards, only
that it is a smaller issue than most ofther for them. They are putting
minimal effort into it, as evidenced by the long delay. The A3000 has been
out since the end of Jun 90, that's 8 months, and they haven't relkeased a
new BB. The old BBs can be used with the 3000, BTW, you just have to either
drop the disk drive or buy an external case.
As to built0iun PC compat, that's what the BB is for! I'm not
saying that Commodore should stop making the BB, but it is a peripheral.
And if the Amiga will never make it on its own merits, and I believed that,
I would toss my Amiga tomorrow and get a NeXT or a PC clone. What's the
point? The IBM will be there soon enough. It'll cost more at first, but
it'll come down in the end. If the Amiga doesn't ever make it than all
those nice faeatures that you say make people want both computers will
disappear within a few years as the B IBM evelops faster. (BTW, I'm using a
conncection with no backspace key, that's why there are all the typos)
With that last paragraph, you brought up lots of new issues. I'm
not convinced that Commodore will make oney off of the Unix systems. It may
take off, it may not. It depends on whether software gets rleased in
Motorla format rather than just Sparc and Intel. And Unix is very different
from MS-DOS.
As to Apple's doing so ell, those high-end apples sell to people
who need them for compatiblity and because of the Apple "image" which
simply doesn't exist for Commodore, especially not in the US.
