BTW, I really despise "cars are to X as computer-thing-Z is to Y" type analogies. Cars aren't computers, and any similarities are a coincidence, not evidence of Mac vs. IBM superiority. 🙂 No, no, no! For Joe and Jane Computer User, the "home computer" types the industry would love to see, the casual office user of a computer, no, they should not learn "manual mode", aka some gawd-forsaken command-line-interface from the Dark Ages of computing! Teach them about the trash can icon. They can probably handle that. They can't handle directories, the 'cd' command, hierarchical directory structure, attribute bits, wildcards and three dozen other programmer-isms that have nothing to do with *getting a job done by computer*.
