Jeannie, How wonderful to hear from you! I was born in Laisterdyke . . . now torn down . . . a neighborhood of back-to-backs in Bradford, near St. Mary's Church. My father and his family were born in Shipley, in a section that has also been torn down and now is a shopping district. I have many relations in the area, however (both my parents were the youngest of large families), so have opportunities to poke around their youthful haunts and get a feel for what it must have been like living there in the thirties and forties. I feel grateful that after the war mum and dad left (some of their brothers and sisters have been on government assistance for forty years and haven't moved from in front of the television in all that time), but I have never really felt like an American, and keep going home and pondering returning for good. Not necessarily to Yorkshire, but to the UK. Mum and dad retired ten years ago to Canada – Vancouver Island. I have an old IBM XT, 1982 vintage, and pine for an update but can't really justify it. I am a college teacher and technical writer, and really only need speed and graphics when I am (a) late on a deadline or (2) playing! Nice to make your acquaintance. Let's keep in touch. Oh, if I wanted to meet other UK compusers . . . is there a magazine people read? Marlene
