I just sent a set of JPG's in to Rapid (high end stills bureau) here
in SF. I did JPG's because they were just storyboards, and I didn't
really care too much about quality, but I'm pretty sold on them for
certain jobs. I got an 8meg file down to 500k, and try as I might I
couldn't find any artifacts. There was a lot of black in the image,
so I'm sure it won't always compress that far, but I used a Q factor
of 7. I BBS'd the images to the bureau in around 10 minutes, and had
them the next day. They looked great.
