Wayne, Thanks for taking the time to reply. Re: CADD Skills Standards. I think it is a great idea to look at ways of evaluating skills in various drafting disciplines, but have you thought of how to acquire the skills? You mention Plant Design as one of the disciplines that would be evaluated. Can you direct me to a Community College or equivalent institution where the 3rd party Plant Design Software is taught? Unless you are already working for a company that uses the software, the possibility of learning it is close to nil. ATC training costs are out of reach for most non-corporate customers. There are many industry specific 3rd party applications, knowledge of which is essential to finding work in that industry. Knowing AutoCAD alone is no longer enough. Lispless AutoCAD LT isn't a great deal of help in this area. I think it would be a worthwhile initiative for AutoDesk to begin to encourage their software "partners" to follow AutoDesk's lead and provide educational modules of their sofware as well. I'm sure that you will find, as I have, that because training is a large source of dealer income, any attempts to broaden access to it will find resistance. J.F.
