<<It's also unclear to me what chances HP has in this market at all no
matter what they do since it seems a bit out of their area.>>
HP has just restructured a profitable microwave division into guess
what????—VIDEO. Set top boxes are not out of their area at all. In
fact, they aren't out of anybody's area. It's a field in development
and major players are forming consortiums and making deals right and
left. Who gets what slice of the pie still remains to be seen.
On the surface, to an Amigaphile, it would seem C= is well situated
to cash in on the boom with a platform that dovetails in rather
nicely and is in many ways ahead of the game. How many years was C=
definitely ahead in the Computer game and what's their share of that
pie now? How often do you hear C= or Amiga mentioned in regard to
this new technology in non Amiga specific publications? With the
resources of the phone companies, the computer giants etc. how
difficult is it going to be to be a serious threat to C= prospects?
C= should get on the stick, join some consortium and start signing
some licensing agreements pronto if they're eyeing this market.
