There is often some <hmm, banding is not the right word…> printer artifacting <?> evident in large solid colored areas (like a sky) but this is not that noticable, and in color photocopies, virtually disappears. The printer tends to be a little heavy on the MAGENTA, but by playing with the "intensity" slider in its Windows driver and with the image in Photostyler (or other image editor) you can overcome that. The thermal-wax is not quite as nice — the res. is 203dpi (something which is not really noticable in dye-sub) — but from a few feet, it looks good. The Wax can help you do test prints, but the color balance (CYMK) seems to be more even (not as MAGENTA weighted), so it's not a reliable tool for previewing color before going dye-sub. All in all, I'm really happy with it, and the ability to handle and adjust in-house instead of worrying that you'll get back a green sky/blue grass print that's too dark for the presentation in a half hour can be quite relaxing.<g> Dave
