I think that's the New Madrid fault, which had its last big quake in the 1820s or 1840s, I'm not sure. It is due for another visit, actually. It was felt as far away as Chicago. They expect only big quakes from this fault. Cities may again fall into the river. Have you ever read Twain's memoirs regarding man's hubris in attempting to tame and straighten the Mississippi?
