Yes – I had a brain lapse there. The version of 1.3 that shipped with the
_early_ 3000's was a special version made just for the 3000 ('cause the
"release" 1.3 didn't know about the 3000's hardware requirements).
As far as I know, this "special" 1.3 image was only available on the early
3000's. As soon as 2.04 was finalized, 3000's started shipping with 2.04 in
ROM, and the 1.3 compatibility was felt by C= to be a moot issue, as the 1.3
capability was there only because earlier revs of 2.0x were slightly buggy.
