Bela … Thanks for the update on the MicroForge products. Seems like their
"Developer" prices are about right considering the amount of competition,
"newness" of the machine, etc.
On that note, however (FLAME ON):
I really hope this whole business of "Developer" vs. "Non-Developer" doesn't
catch on with other companies. Granted, a company has a right to setup any
kind of pricing structure they choose, but I really think it is unfortunate
that this distinction is being made. Few people appreciate being classified as
"second-class" citizens; fewer still enjoy being "gouged" on the basis of some
artificial distinction. This is especially true when the "second-class"
citizan (the Non-Developer) has had to pay MORE upfront for their equipment
than the priviliged "Developer", yet receives LESS in the way of support and
information. Seems to me that such practices can only hurt the sales and
popularity of the Amiga.
It's bad enough to have to put up with this kind of treatment from CBM, but to
also have to put up with it from 3rd party manufacturers is unjust and
intolerable! Let's all let these kind of vendors know what we think of such
practices … with our voices, *and* with our checkbooks. Boycott
discriminitory companies!
