Nick,
As I think I told you, I find VR/S3D/RL etc. to be about as easy to use
as it gets _in_3D_modeling_and_rendering_. Unfortunately, the whole field is
none to easy to approach for many.
I, too, found it easy to cover the entire desktop in a clutter of
windows until I was no longer sure where I was, but that cleared up as I
figured out how to go about things. In most other environments this doesn't
happen, but only because you jump from one environment to another – open the
modeler, then over to the detailer, then over to the director module, then over
to the animator module, etc. I find it even easier to get lost in this
arangement, but that may be a matter of taste.
Your interface is certainly eclectic, but everybody's interface takes
its own direction.
A suggestion, tho. It seemed natural for people to assume – when I
showed them Simply3D/RL that when you drop an item into the view, it will show
up more or less where you dropped it. People would move the tree over to the
upper right hand corner of the view windows and drop it, every time, then be a
little surprised when it didn't show up there. What it the interface
fullfilled these expectations? So that the object appears centered on the XY
position where you released it? Any thoughts?
(PS – looking forward to seeing that castle CD)
