Producing a 16 bit version of Elastic Reality really wasn't a possibility. This is so for many reasons including (1) Elastic Reality is a cross platform product who's code must be shared across platforms which have no concept of 16 versus 32 bit apps (and instead use flat memory models) and (2) the internals of Elastic Reality thoroughly depend upon really big numbers and really small numbers…both dependencies making the use of 16 bit arithmetic (even for the simulations of floating point) into a seriously difficult task. While it may not be, as you say, right to make a blanket statement about all apps running faster under NT, we can say that Elastic Reality is already 32 bit and any work to make it back into a 16 bit application would simply get in the way of our producing new *and different* products without much gain.
