You are right there about the hardware requirements. They are really excessive and point to poor programming. They have the same problem with MS-DOS. Microsoft programmers seem to take the easy way out and write in high level languages which are by the very nature inefficient and slow. ALso they make for bloated code! MS may not have written NT, but apparently those who did are not much better than those who write MS-DOS. I agree that NT is overpriced – I believe I read somewhere that they have to recoup their development cost by pricing the os so high – I don't think it is doing all that well in terms of number of units sold. So whatever the price is for the R5 upgrade you can $280 to it for NT – nothing appealing about that! To say nothing of the fact that you will probably need to get new/upgrade hardware. Not a very appetizing prospect. Judy
