I agree with that in the sense that machine generated bars are better for tweaking your edit suite. But… I like to shoot location bars _in_addition_ for the reason if the something really gets screwed – bad exposure, bad color balance, etc, haveing the location bars gives you a starting point to try to fix the problem.
