Might also have been one of the CIA chips has gone bust (they're said to be prone to do that, and one of them actually is responsible for proper floppy drive operation). Try swapping them. If your floppy drives work again but, for example, your keyboard (or something else that worked till then) fails, you definitely know that it's the CIA.
