When a competent spokesman for CIS says to me "Our Rules do not restrict an
individual from downloading an INDIVIDUAL file that the author has released
into the public domain and uploading/distributing it as the individual
pleases" then I will breathe a huge sigh of relief. The article in Compute!
(November) quotes the director of corporate communications (one would think
he is a competent spokesman) as saying the exact opposite though.
Unfortunately, the assurances to the former by the sysops do not carry
weight since they cannot represent CIS as spokesmen in this. I sincerely
would like to see a public posting from CIS discussing individual files.
