There are always people though that would take advantage of that ability. The question I posed was prompted by the Basic file describing how to de-protect or de-encrypt a file. However, it was not limited to AmigaBasic files, but to files in general. As an aside, always have backup copies. Or when you modify a file, save it under a different name. That way, if something goes screwy, you always have a pretty much up to date file to fall back on. Also, NEVER use the SAVE "filename",P switch unless you mean it! <grin>
