Sector editors and TYPE OPT H hardly qualify to give you the type of access we are discussing here. Anyways….we agree to disagree on the subject. There are always people though that would take advantage of that ability. The question I posed was prompted by the Basic file describing how to de-protect or de-encrypt a file. However, it was not limited to AmigaBasic files, but to files in general. As an aside, always have backup copies. Or when you modify a file, save it under a different name. That way, if something goes screwy, you always have a pretty much up to date file to fall back on. Also, NEVER use the SAVE "filename",P switch unless you mean it! <grin>
