I'll never forget my first exposure to the Amiga. My A1000 arrived,
without any disks. I knew there was another A1000 at a local dealership,
so I went there. Of course, they were in the same boat – they had disks,
but no manuals. I'm rather computer-literate. I thought I'd be able to
figure out how to copy disks. Nope. Even to a 1985-era computer whiz kid,
the Amiga was opaque. The Amiga has more little hacks like that… the
multitasking encourages it. At least on the PC, we'd see conflicts between
TSRs, and people would keep their hacks to a minimum. 🙂 Or DA conflicts
ala the Mac. But no!!! I've seen impossible-to-use Amiga setups, because
these people installed every goofy hack from here to West Germany, screen
blankers, mouse movers, quick menu this and activate window that. Sheesh.
