Every dealer I have dealt with have been very some of the knowledgeable I have talked to. There are 5 dealers here in the Minneapolis area and all take the machine very seriously, all but one have machines set up to try. It is too bad this dealer left a bad impression of the Amiga with my friend. He is now seriously looking into the new MAC LC-III, which, he says, is roughly the same price as an A1200 + GVP '030' accelerator. They are both nice machines; he'd be better off with either of those than a PC clone. Of course, I'd prefer that he get the Amiga! <g> — Dave

In case your friend wasn't aware of this, the LCIII is using a new card form for it's PDS slot, a 7" card size. Unfortunately, only a few cards exist out there at this time that will work within an LCIII. Knowing the Apple market, however, expect this point to be moot ASAP. The difference is (a small difference, but something to consider) that the MACs don't come with a math coprocessor (as was pointed out to me here a couple of days ago). If your friend wants to do anything 3D that would make a big difference. The GVP 030 I am sure has a 882 or at least a 881. Richard -> via the Amiga 1000 AutoPilot

That's a good point, but it seems that "the emperor has no clothes." To wit: FPU's don't make that much difference on the Mac. You'll only get nominal speed increases. I'm in charge of about 20 IIci's/IIx's/IIfx's /II's and it really is hard to tell. FPU's on Amiga's are better utilized because the code we use is normally optimized for FPU's. Kinda sad, ain't it?
