Does anyone know if the output from this will match or approximate what I'm getting now?>> Yes. It won't. The SpigotPower AV does not output 24bit color. There is a product that Radius has announced for March general availability called the SpigotPro AV (or the SpigotPower AV Producer — depending on which Radius dept you talk to). It will be about $1,799 retail, and will use the 840AV's video input jacks but will have output circuits of it's own. It will deliver 24bit color. It also has hardware zooming to pixel double say 320X240 up to convolved full frame in real time. (Ugly stuff <– my opinion). Although the board is touted at 60field, 640X480, the board's maximum throughput is 2.2meg/sec (73K per frame at full motion). Even with M-JPEG miracles only God can work =in this price range=, your Hi-8 and S-VHS equipment should easily exceed the quality this board can produce (my opinion is based on my experience with other JPEG equipment using these data rates). So it will be your weakest link. But you might squeek by using it for titles, animations, keys and DVE work to compliment your rig. To make effective use of the SP PRO, you will need a disk drive with a *sustained* throughput of at least 2.2 meg/sec (disk throughput needs to exceed board's data rate). Many tests have shown sustained rates to be a skosh over half the maximum rate. However, I have one drive rated at 5m/s which 'tests' at 3.7m/s sustained, so mileage may vary.
