#PC For Old Decks

Anyone know of a PC and or Amiga desktop editing system that supports older Sony BVU200B 3/4" recorders. They are currently controlled by a Sony BVE500A editor. They use a Centronics type interface connector. Any info would really help! TIA. Bill

William, Videomedia's VLAN standard for interfacing to VTR's does support various parallel interface decks. RGB Computers makes AmiLink (for the Amiga) and POST (for windows) and then again Videomedia themselves have OZ, all using VLAN technology. I think that I have also heard of devices that will convert a parallel interface signal to rs-422 so that less expensive edit controllers can be used. -John

Addenda Electronics (408-372-6192) makes an RS232-422 adapter that lets you use your PC's COM port to control the high-end serial VTRs. Not at all expensive, either.
