#EVO-9650 problems

I have a Sony EVO-9650 Deck hooked up to my pc. When I record a viewport
directly to tape in 3ds, what ever image is in the framebuffer when the process
starts is recorded in each frame. If I render the viewport to disk and record
to tape using Disk to VTR, it works fine. The file I have to render is 4700
frames and I have only 1 GIG to render to. I can work around it, but if anyone
is familiar with this deck and some of the swiches I might not be aware of I
would appreciate it.

I am using the newest 9650 driver, my framebuffer is a Targa 32+

I have an EVO9650 (although i no longer use it – got a PAR). It seems to me
that your problem is not related to the Deck, but more likely, how you are
rendering the animation to tape. The video deck has no control over what the
image is so the problem is either with the targa+, or more likely how you are
rendering. When you render the animation, you must have your Render Display
setup for the targa+ (it seems that you have this right or you wouldn't have
any image). My hunch is that you are either rendering with "NO Display" on,
rendering to a Null Device, Rendering to your VGA card, or rendering with the
Net-Que. Each of these rendering techniques would prevent 3ds from rendering
to the Targa+ so the last image you rendered to the Targa+ would still be in
the buffer, and therefore fed to the EVO9650 each time it captured a frame.

I was leading towards your ideas until I tried recording Disk to VTR.
When I tried this, the image was displayed to the targa card and recorded
properly. After I tried rendering to tape, I plugged the output of the targa
card into my NTSC monitor and I saw the last rendered frame, it was different
from the single image that was rendered frame after frame to tape, but still
the correct one. This leads me to believe that te 9650 isn't taking in any new
images after the initial one.
