#Backup Question

Dean,

problem files.
I have attempted selecting the individual files to restore them only to have
the computer lock up and not respond. It has even once caused a system CMOS
failure in which I have had to re-set the hard drive type and system date! I
have noticed one thing also, both calalarm.tbl and callerid.log are zero length
files on my source machine. The system still locks up trying to do a selective
restore of YLPERSON.BTR, or ANY other selected file!
In reference to my first message:
Is the file dts)arc(.pck something I can delete?
Will there be a patch to make my old calendar files usable?
Rich Tyktor
Rich,
dts)arc(.pck is an archive file storing backup information. If you delete it,
you won't be able to restore from that disk. On the old calendar file, it
sounds like it's being treated like a network file. Go to File/Open, then hold
down your ctrl and shift keys while you double-click on the file name. Then go
to File/Utilities/Unlock to unlock the records.
I'm sending a copy of your message to the programmers so they can research the
restore lock up you're having.

I have tried this SEVERAL times, all with the same results; a long pause and
then the error message about records locked by another user. I am running WFWG
3.11 (but no network), NDW 3.0, and VSHARE is in my system.ini. I am able to
unlock specific days, but not the whole calendar. (BTW weekend days do not
need to be unlocked.) If I jump ahead to the next month the problem re-occurs.
If I forget to unlock a day and open the calendar on that date I am locked out
of everything as the "cancel" button is not effective. I am unable to transfer
the info to a new calendar as the same error occurs.
If I load SHARE.EXE before entering windows, the problem with jumping from day
to day is gone, but I am still unable to transfer the data to a new calendar
(record locked error).
Open for more suggestions!
Rich Tyktor
Rich,
Could you send me a copy of your Calendar file? I could give it to the
programmers so they can see what's happening and hopefully find a solution.
