I have downloaded 4.1b, followed all of the instructions ( I even printed them out so I could go thru them step by step) and I now get error messages: Cannot find file CTL3DV2.DLL which I did download from the forum twice. I also copied it into c:\windows\system using file manager file copy command where I typed in the directory name(s) it was to be copied into. I also checked to see if the files is there. It is, but named CTL3DV.DLL not CTL3DV2.DLL. Also, I get other error messages: Cannot find file C:\Windows\Deskapp\book.exe + \dial.exe + \cal.exe depending on which component of DTS I am trying to pull up. Help, once again. Thanks, Pete

Pete – sounds like you may have the same problem I am. I am upgrading from 4.1a. I get the message that "cannot execute book.exe (or any other module). (or one of its components) is missing. Have reinstalled many times. Have requested a complete list of files, dates, sizes, and locations to see if another files is missing. I have posted under "missing files?" earlier this morning. Will get back to you if I can find prob. or get a response before you do. By the way, which version are you upgrading from?

Russell: I assume that you have or have downloaded from the Okna forum, the file CTL3DV2.DLL. Notice that when you copied this file into \Windows\System the file name changed to CTL3DV.DLL. You must rename this file using File Manager rename command – CTL3DV2.DLL. This is what DST is looking for, I think. I upgraded from 4.0c. Let me know how this works out. Pete

Thanks – I just checked and the file is not renamed. Is this documented in anything that can be accessed before an install? I have downloaded all OKNA files on this forum (except some WP stuff) and thought that I had read it pretty thoroughly. I know I am missing a file someplace and a dollar to a donut says this will fix it. Thanks again – I'll let you know tommorrw.

There are two .txt files that I think were grouped with the upgrade files. This is where most of the documentation is, but not where the CTL3DV.DLL to CLT3DV2.DLL info is found. That came from browsing thru the install problem messages. Good luck. I would like to know if this solution works as well for you as it did for me. I also solved my problems with printing envelopes in address book. I finally had enough courage to change the margin settings. I had been wondering for years why I couldn't print envelopes in the program that contained most of the addresses with which I corresspond. Now I can.

Bingo by George – Thanks. I assume that when you say the information is available thru the install problem messages that the info is in this forum, but that OKNA fails to document it. Why do they not post the file with the correct file name? It is not even zipped. Anyway, I like many others have about 4 or 5 other PIM managers sitting on my shelf that always seem to take more time than saving time, which I assume is the point of a PIM (or more accurately a contact management program) . I found a program almost as good as this one called UpTrends. However it is DOS based and requires almost 600K of Ram to run. Which means it is borderline to even run it in a DOS Window. They have promised a Windows version for well over to years. And the courts want to punish Bill Gates for "vaporware"! He is no more guilty than any other software developer. Well let me see if this fixes some of the oversights and awkwardness of 4.1a. After I get familiar I would like to stay in touch and trade some tips and problem solving with you as you. By the way, how long have you used DTS? I just got my original copy about a month ago and imported about 300 contacts from UpTrends. Nice import interface. Also think that the attach file is a super feature allowing virtually any windows program to integrate. I am going to D/L the AMI mactro and see if that makes it morte seamless. It may not be a tight integration, but the fact that virtually any Win program can be attached makes up. Well before I drone on, I'll end and say stay in touch and thanks again. Russell

Russell, << I assume that when you say the information is available thru the install problem messages that the info is in this forum, but that OKNA fails to document it. Why do they not post the file with the correct file name? It is not even zipped.>> This is not an Okna problem per se and ocurred precisely because they endeavored to do as you suggest <g> CIS only allows file names of format 6.3 rather than the standard 8.3 DOS format. Why, I do not know, perhaps DEC 20 heritage…. It is wise to keep this point in mind for any open system type files not in compressed format, when D/L'ng from CIS… Ken
