Just wondering if there are any Motion Capture Systems out there, ones where you put sensors on the different joints of your body, then the computer detects the position of all your joints via inverse kinematics in 3D Studio? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Mike C.

Michael – I saw just such a system on "The Next Step" on Discovery channel the other night. They were using it to help golfers fix their swings <G> I'm sorry but don't remember any manufacturer's names. This show is usually repeated so you might want to check it out. Anne

Hi, Yea….. check out Ascension Technologies Flock of Birds,,, which works great in CyberSpace. We use them as well as Polhemus sensors. Both are electro magnetic 6D sensors. We have CDK drivers for them in Rel 1 and Rel 2 available in our Tools for CDK developers. Also for 3D Studio motion capture check out the Puppeteer (name is not complete is it?) IPAS available from………….. Oh gosh I am so embarrassed….. at this late hour my mind is blank as to whether this comes through Schreiber or others…… I'm so sorry Puppeteer creators….. Jonas… help me out here…. Anyway Puppeteer uses the Acsension Flock of Birds 6D sensors inside of 3D Studio I believe… It looks great……though unfortunately I have never had the time to play with it. Michael, there are a number of capture systems using different technologies. Some use mechanical linkages, which can be very limiting to motion. Others use video to track dots or balls stuck on joints. Others, like the Ascension Flock of Birds, use a collection of magnetic trackers. All work to some degree but have problems. Jerry
