#Bones-PRO problem
7 messages in this thread
I am working on working on creating a seamless humanoid character using
Bones-pro. The problem I'm having is when I'm trying to animate the hand. If I
move all the fingers as a group everything is fine, but if I try to curl three
fingers and leave one extended. A few vertices on the extended finger are
pulled towards the curling fingers creating very noticable artifacts. I have
tried resizing the offending bones as well as many combinations of zone% &
Multiplier settings. I have run out of ideas any help would be appreciated.

Tim, try going into the editor and seperating out the fingers *before* applying
the bones to the mesh. This should minimize the influence of one finger/bone
influence on it's "neighbor". Now, using the bones, bring the mesh back to it's
default state in frame 1 and you should be able to animate the hand from there.
Hope this helps,
-Alan
Alan,
Thanks I'll give that a try and let you know how it turns out.

Hi Tim,
In addition to what Alan said, try Zone settings around 10 and Multiplier
settings around 2. Of course this is only if your bones are approx. real life
finger bone sizes. If this doesn't help you may want to EMAIL a sample mesh to
me and I'll see if I can help you out.
We are working on a newer version of Bones Pro that will greatly simplify this
process. Make sure that you send in your registration card so that we can
notify you when the time comes.

Am I on file? I made sure I sent my card(s) in.
BTW, I've used BP on a detailed hand mesh with no problems, and the fingers
weren't even especially separated at the begining. Love the program — one of
the best 3DS add-ons I've ever gotten.
Hi Mike,
We got you on file. We know who you are. We know where you live.

Uh oh. Sounds like the IRS. I guess I had better be on good behavior.
Glad you know about me, though. I suspect I'll be buying some more
goodies from you real soon now (can't keep up with all these new
IPAS!).
