I've noticed several GIF and VGA viewers in the libraries. Are these to allow one to view an IBM GIF or VGA image? If so, does that mean that I could, for example, download an image from an IBM BBS and view it on my Amiga? I've been told by a disreputable source that this is the case. Chris

You can indeed view GIF images created on the IBM (or any other machine, for that matter) using the GIF viewing/conversion utilities here in LIB 9. (HAMGIF, VirtGIF, Hamsharp, et.al.) As for "VGA" images, that is not a file format, it is a display mode. There is no real "VGA" file format on the PC, only several mutually incompatible ones used by various paint programs. I'm not aware of any PD programs here to view any of these formats other than GIF. Also be aware that images may not look identical on an Amiga to the IBM view for a number of reasons, and likewise Amiga images shown on IBM machines will also show distortions. –>Steve Bennett
