Are you looping the cables? I've found the problem with doing that is Creative
doesn't seem to know anything about designing hardware for a noisy environment;
the Soundblaster is a magnet for picking up RF from inside the box.
As far as the 8-bit vs. 16-bit debate, I couldn't tell the difference; most
apps don't support 16-bit anyway. Hell, most games don't even really support
the SB Pro! (not that I *play games* mind you.. 😉
I was really hoping Strike Commander would have the audio pan from left to
right as a jet cruised in front of you..
{BTW: I'm really looking forward to _Echoes_! Why's it trade paperback,
though?}

I've just installed the cable that I bought for $12 + $3 handling from TTS
Information Systems ((408) 982-0695). It connects the 3-prong audio out from
the rear of the Toshiba drive to the 4-prong CD audio in on the SBPro card.
Works great! Came very quickly. It's not worth trying to shave a few pennies
off of that price. DON'T ACCEPT THE WORD OF NAYSAYERS! It can be done. (No
offense, Jack . . . <g>)
