I just duplicated your example here and had absolutely no problems with it (I
used beige plastic and blue plastic for MAT A and Chrome Gifmap for MAT B).
I suppose the best thing for you would be to archive up the file with a
description of your problem and send it via binary email to Jonas, and he'll
take a look at it for you.

I'll do that… As far as we can tell, it seems to be happening only when using
two materials on one of the morphs… I've got the 11/15/93 version of the EXE
that is 2106216 bytes. Old version maybe? I'll keep plugging away at it… who
knows maybe we screwed something up. Thanks again.

We're using the same version of the program, and I used two materials on the
first morph target (beige plastic and blue plastic). Like I said, send an
example to Jonas if you can't get it to work for you.

If that's true, that's quite a coincidence. If there are 200 different default
materials, what are the odds of that happening? Gus?

I know I'm probably missing something but:
Wouldn't the probability of picking two materials from 200 be:
p = 1/200 x 1/199 = 1/39,800
Or one in 39,800 ?
I guess its how you define the event but I don't think the first person's
selection of the two materials enters the equation: only the second person's
"attempt" to match the previously selected materials.
Of course, the actual probability of two people selecting the same two
materials would be reduced substantially by the exclusion of materials clearly
not suitable for the object (e.g., wireframe, etc).

I went through the same sequence of thoughts. The difference here is that it
doesn't matter the order. White and Blue is the same as Blue and White. Once
White and Blue is discarded as a pair, the array gets reduced by one and the
process loops. Select the first color and you have 199 combinations. This first
color has been "combined" with all other colors (or materials for that matter).
Move over to the second and you have now 198 combinations (you can't combine
with the first as it has already been done). From here on is just a simple
regression (199+198+197+196…).
I could, just well be way off here. The last time I did anything related to
combinatory analysis was in High School 15 years ago… <g>

Well when I was last in H.S. I don't think it had even been invented yet! <g>
ANYWAY, hasn't it occurred to youse guys that Beige Plastic and Blue Plastic
are right at (almost) the top of the Get Materials menu of medit?! I use those
two all the time–skipping over Black Plastic, of course, cause it doesn't show
shapes well!
And, yet, I've never used beige plastic, and have used blue plastic only once
or twice – with reflection maps added.
