I have ordered a Pentium-100 and would like to upgrade to WinImages3 but not
sure about upgrading. I have seen your product listed for Windows $60-70 but
the WIN:NT version about $450, is this right?
The Pentium I get will have Win 3.1 but I will upgrade to NT as soon as
possible but an not sure about this pricing.

When you order directly from us, the Windows software is about $50 + shipping,
and the NT software is about $250 + shipping… and you need to tell us what
version of the NT software (Intel, Alpha, MIPS, PowerPC) you want… since
windows 3.1 only runs on Intel, what you want would seem to be the Intel
version. Most NT sales are to Alpha machines, so be sure you specify.

Will the Windows 3.1 version still run under Windows NT(INTEL)? I am sure the
NT version will be faster, is this the only difference?
All Windows 3.1 programs should run unser Windows NT (regardless of CPU) as
Windows NT _emulates_ Windows 3.1.

I've heard rather differently–that they struggled to get just most of the
major Windoze apps running OK. Of course I'm sure the entire Microsloth suite
is ready and working…

Unfortunately, this is not entirely true. NT emulates many of the Win3.x API's
but for things like applications that tie in closely with the print
architecture or comm API's in Windows such as our WinFax PRO, it (NT) breaks
it. There are also some standard GDI calls that have never been emulated or do
so differently than under 3.1. Applications that use reentrant functions in
standard Windows DLL's will often not work as well.

This is incorrect on most counts, and confused on the rest.
Emulation is that of a 286; that means that memory allocation(s) are severely
limited as compared to Windows running under a 486. Hence, many program will
not run, or will not run well (leaving the issue of speed alone for the
moment). Emulation under the various RISC CPU's is further limited because
without an InTel processor "underneath", certain operations just don't work (in
32 bit applications).
It is my understanding that a better emulation is due around midsummer; but
this is rumor and I have no confirmation of it (and I wouldn't likely trust it
even if I did – if it's not released, it doesn't exist as far as I'm
concerned!)
Secondly, Windows programs such as ours that are _specifically_ written for 32
bit operation, do NOT use standard Windows calls, they use calls enhanced or
replaced by the Win32s package. In these cases, there is limited compatibility
between NT and standard Windows, however the programs are NOT run under
emulation – and if the developer actually uses NT-specific capabilities at this
point, then you can't run under Windows at all. Likewise, if you require Win32s
_and_ you use Windows 3.1 specific stuff (in other words, capabilities that
either don't exist or have changed under NT) then cross-compatibility breaks,
and thouroughly.

No – the Windows 3.1 version will NOT run under Windows NT. Also, the NT
version will NOT run under Windows.
There are significant differences between Win32s (which is the "stuff" that
makes 32 bit apps possible under windows) and the actual 32 bit OS called "NT".
We have elected to actually use some of the features in NT, and this breaks the
compatibility that would otherwise be afforded using Win32s. We're also using
things in Windows that aren't appropriate to use under NT, hence the
incompatibility from Windows–>NT.

Hi Ben,
I purchased Imagemaster a few months ago, but was wondering if the registration
ever made it to you; APO mail isn't always reliable. Can you check up on it
for me (cuz I'm interested in the upgrade as well as the Windows version).
