I have a problem with AMosaic. I have MUI and AMITCP but I cannot figure out
how to get it to hook-up over the phone line with my university's computer. I
have an account there and can access the internet, but I'd like to be able to
use AMosaic. I'm fairly new at this and I guess I really don't know what I'm
doing. I can get AMosaic to start-up, but I can't hook-up to my account at
school. I've tried calling in w/Terminus and setting my modem to ignore DTR.
When I exit from Terminus I still have a connection, but nothing coming through
AMosaic. HELP!!!!!
You need something like a PPP or SLIP connection. AmiTCP has to hook up
through a device, which typically would be ppp.device or slip.device or some
such thing. There is a copy of PPP software for the amiga in this forum's
libraries. However, your university needs to be running corresponding software
so that you can make a PPP or SLIP connection. It would be a particular phone
number, not one that you can log in on in the old-fashoined way. You'll have
to ask them about it.
By the way, the PPP distribution here in the forum includes directions for
installing AmiTCP properly so it will use PPP.
