Pagestream Clip-Art

I am also getting the GURU visit when importing color graphics and/or big
pictures. Is it a bug?
Pat.
I don't know if the clip art problem is a bug. I posted to Jack Dure last week
and haven't heard a word from him. This thread is only continuing because
other have tried to help.

Jack is probably waiting to hear from Soft-Logik. It may take a while. Jack

Is there still a Soft-Logik? I can't help feeling that the company is shortly
to announce chapter 11. Let it not be so.

Now, why do you say that? Has someone told you that Soft-Logik is having
financial difficulties?
Michael St. Laurent
Well, they obviously have serious problems with their program (if I am reading
correctly, both Amiga and ST versions), technical support is unsupportive and
they spent bundles on advertising for too long. Any well financed company
could weather these problems and prevail with a lot of luck, so, if their
pockets are deep enough, we have nothing to worry about.
The value of PS is far more than we paid for it, even with all of the bugs, and
Soft-Logik should be proud of their product and anxious to make it even better.
PS reviews in Amiga magazines have been very positive, even while warning
prospective buyers of general bugginess. PS has been accepted with open arms.
But Soft-Logik seems to be hunkered down for a fight. Jack's attitude, when he
shows up here, is often combatitive; it wasn't when PS first came out.
Something about his work is making him unhappy. A lot of what I'm saying
sounds like Commodore a couple of years ago, doesn't it? Commodore pulled
through, let's hope Soft-Logik does too.

Don: I've been watching the PS comments from Jack Durre' for some time
now–before I bought the program, and after. As to your comments about his
attitude:
1. I believe his job is not permanently at Soft-Logik. From what I've
gathered, he has been helping them with support for a while at their location,
and covering the boards (like here) in the evening, with no additional
compensation. I also saw sometime that he was going back home to get back to
his architect's work (altho I may have misinterpreted a message on that).
2. He is not working personally in an Amiga environment, and so has had to give
comments based on ST information.
3. SEVERAL AmigaForum members have been _very_ rude to him. They've vented
their anger for bugs, the early problems with advertising without having the
product, and even using terminology on occasion that doesn't match the Amiga
lingo.
4. He has been very helpful to many people, including myself, in getting
started and trying to identify bugs/user errors/manual problems/strange ways to
access things/etc.
PS is not a perfect program. But the 1.61 release is much more stable and
easier to handle. Jack has taken alot of abuse on this forum. Even if some of
it is justified abou,ht him personally or Soft-Logik, the level of nastiness
has been high. And I think it's been wearing on him.

Jack sent me a message by EPlex, stating that SL, after financial difficulties
last year, is back in the black. As I replied to him, may SL prosper beyond
their wildest dreams.
Jack has always been courteous to us; I have no complaints on that score. I'm
well aware that he has been abused here, but abuse sort of goes hand and hand
with "customer support". People good at customer support have a way of
quelling rage, not stoking it. After all, the rage he encounters, however
immature it may be, is caused by the things you mentioned (bugs, lousy manual,
etc…) not by the customer's assessment of Jack's personality. An attitude of
"nothing personal, just business" would go a long way toward good support and
healthy blood pressure all around.
