Still looking for an internal hard drive for my Amiga 1200. 40 or 80 megabyte units will do nicely. Maxtor and Conner Peripherals preferred, but Quantum may be okay as well. Would also like to buy a Commodore hard drive installation kit for the A1200, in case anyone's got a re-registerable set to unload. How'd $125 for a 40M and $175 for a 80M sound? Used is fine, so long as it's working 100% and has not been abused or otherwise on it's last legs. To the person who replied to my earlier inquiries, sorry, but I forgot to save your name and e-mail address (BIG oops) Definitely interested in that drive of yours–let's work out the details so I can get that money order off to you!

Rodney, Let me know if the Toaster goes ala carte. Either me or a friend would be quite interested. If a trade interests you, I currently have both a DCTV *and* an OpalVision. Perhaps we could work something out… //Jonathan, \\//via AutoPilot

Thanks Jonathan, although I'd prefer to steer away from ala carte, I'll keep you in mind. Later – -Rodney Massman * On AutoPilot in Beantown, The Buckeye State *

Perhaps you can help me. I haven't been able to figure out how to pick up resources after you destroy an enemy craft in AmrourGeddon. Any suggestions? Thanx – Chris

Some have them, and some don't. Enemy tanks are good for resources, but planes, you can practically forget it – it's wasted, pretty much. The whole key to the game is knowing where the Nuetron bomb parts are on the map. All you have to do to get any resources from destroyed units is to drive over them (aka tank). Basically, run over them. Forget using a stupid hovercraft, the thing can't even be controlled well enouph to run a straight line! The real trick is knowing where to unload the Nuetron bomb! Talk about frustration! Lob a bomb where it should go and find out that nothing happens (missed it by a few preverbial meters!!) You practically have to use your bomber as a throw away weapon – even if you get there in one piece you have to dive bomb the sucker and risk crashn'burn to get a pinpoint on the sight. It's a fantastic game, a friend and I linked together when he brought his A500 over. We had a literal BLAST! hehehe. Called Psygnosis about it, gave 'em kudos and the like and asked them if they had any other games like it – and they said (about a year or so ago) they had another game similar (can't think of the name) but hadn't any plans for ArmourGeddon II. -Rodney Massman * On AutoPilot in Beantown, The Buckeye State *

When I find resources (I'm assuming that the geometric solid is a resource) I don't ever seem to pick them up, even when I run over them. Then I always end up running out of materials before I get the whole bomb together. Oh well, I'll keep trying. Chris

Only the Heavy Tank can pick up a bomb part – you get around in them faster if you drop Teleport Pods with your bomber in the vicinity of the Nuetron Bomb resource. The Light Tank, Hovercraft and Heavy Tank can pick up any normal resource by running over it. If you don't pick it up you were either going to fast or missed it by a hair. Hope this helps… -Rodney Massman * On AutoPilot in Beantown, The Buckeye State *

Hmmm…. Perhaps I was going to fast to pick up the resource. I'll have to try again. Thanx.

> How'd $125 for a 40M and $175 for a 80M sound? Like a pipe dream. Figure on $220 for the 80MB drive alone. Another $10 for the cable. Then d/l Microbotics' RDPrep and have at it. // Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot….. \X/

I'm selling the original 40MB HD that came in my A1200 (replaced it with a 120MB HD). The price I am asking is $150. It comes with the cable and it is preformatted with NO errors. Reply here, EMail or call (602)459-7627. By the way…the A1200 is an AWESOME machine!!!

Thanks. I did download RDPrep and it looks real good. But it does not include a device driver, and a good look through my 3.0 disks reveals that Commodore has not included scsi.device or any other hard drive related items. Looks like I'll be picking up their $30 installation kit. As for the drives, I'm wondering if maybe these 2.5" ones are simply too new and sought-after to be flooding the used market the way the smaller Mac drives did. I'll likely pay a little extra ($250 or so) and get myself a new Conner Peripherals drive. I've had great results with this brand and would like to stick with it if I'm going to have to shell out $$ for a new one.

Jeff, I think that scsi.device is loaded from rom when you boot up the A1200 or A4000 and WB 3.0, at least thats how it seems to work on my A1200. You can utilize the FastFileSystem the same way. =Rick=

The "scsi.device" is rom-resident. No disk-based drivers are needed. The only reason for getting their HD install kit is the cable. Which can be had for less that half their asking price…. // Brian — Cruising on AutoPilot….. \X/

Brian, Richard, thanks for the tip. Guess I'll skip that $30 hard drive installation kit and put that money into a Conner Peripherals drive, rather than a Quantum.
