#Networking CD-ROM Drives
4 messages in this thread
We are considering adding a CD-ROM drive to our Novell network for
mass storage of engineering drawings etc. We are running Novell 2.15
Rev. C and Novell 3.11 We currently use a WORM drive for this purpose
and would like to move away from this technology to one that seems to
become more of a standard.
Our initial idea was to gather data on another media such as tape or
a removeable hard drive and periodically (when enough data has been
gathered) take the data to a third party that can author CD's from
it.
Would appreciate any ideas/suggestions concerning hardware and
software required. For example: Is there software for a CD-ROM drive
on a Novell file server? Are the CD-ROM drives advertised in many
cataloges for stand alone PC's appropriate for a network server?

There is COREL's corelscsi, On-line's PRO-NET, Merridan Data's CD-NET, MDI's
SCSI-express and a few others. (GO COREL) for information on corelscsi.
On-line I think is in one of the Novell forums … and all of them frequent
this forum time to time.
A few of the companies listed above will design or have cabinets for multiple
CD-ROM drives as well.
My company, Meridian Data, sells CD NET for just this purpose. For more info.,
