If yer using VISCA as well as Sony's VBOX ya might take a look at Gold
Disks VERY INEXPENSIVE Videodirector for the Amiga and also for the
IBM/Clones. I picked it up at WOCA for $99 and it's pretty good for the
price. I use it Via LANC not Visca/Vbox so it's NOT that Accurate. If yer
on a Budget and Frame Accuracy isn't of Utmost importance give it a look.

I am currently using the VDirector. It seems pretty good especially for
the price. With the Vdeck and Vbox it's more than enough for a home
editing system, but I need to control some more features of the Vdeck and
would also like to incorporate more than a graphics overlay event.

I got some good info from this thread, guys, so thanks. I've got an
editor and a player with RS422 and TC, and was looking at getting the
Nucleus Electronics Pers Editor (cuts and Toaster control, they say), but
it's been real-soon-now for about a year.
I also just bought a Sony TR81 (Hi8) for fun that has a control-L port on
it. Could any of the systems you're discussing allow me to control the
serial decks and the camcorder (ooh, A/B)? Frame accuracy wouldn't be
needed for the general stuff with the camcorder, but I'd still like to use
the two decks to loop animations.
I'm not familiar with the Vdeck, Vbox, VISCA stuff, so I thought I'd ask.

I like the Nucleus SFC also, but I am real leary of their editor. From the
skimpy description in their brochure, it sounds just like the Video Director
for RS422 decks at $600+. For under $300 you can get the Video Toolkit from
Abbate for the Mac. I use it on my powerbook and it is really nicely put
together and workd great on just about any deck made Both consumer and RS422.
It is also a batch editor like the Video Director, but has many advanced
features that make logging and editing a joy. It is as accurate as your decks.
Only problem is you need a mac…
