Toaster Freeze Frame
3 messages in this thread
I understand that the early versions of the Toaster board have an inherent
problem whereby the freeze frame does not center each frozen frame in a
sequence exactly the same, so that when the sequence is then laid to tape
it may appear to have some vertical jitter. Is anybody familiar with this?
Thanks.
The jitter you speak about is caused because the frame grabber actually catches
four frames of each freezed "frame". If there was movement during the freeze,
the frames show it. The reason for catching more than one frame is that,
through frame averaging, you can get a better quality picture. If the source
is moving, you'll want to kill three of the four frames and there is a button
on some toaster versions which allows you to do this.
That may have affected a production I finished two weeks ago; I was wondering
why different frame stores had vertical offsets and assumed I had screwed up.
This is a Toaster 4000 (which, by the way, has a substantial amount of
crosstalk between the switcher screen and the program output when the linear
keyer is used.)
