APPLIED Instructor Guide

Nancy….
Fantastic Idea. This should be an excellent companion to your 3DS
Applied book. I'm really glad you seem to be targeting training institutions
with your writing. Something that's really needed.

Dear Roger:
Thank you!
At conferences I attend, instructors say "I'd love to teach 3DS but:
I don't have time to learn the product – I teach all the time.
I don't have time to write curriculum – I teach all the time.
I don't know who to market to or how to market to them
(after all, what do I know about forensic experts,
video game developers, video post production houses…)"
Hopefully this book will answer some of those needs.
By putting some extra tutorials in the book I hope to give instructors
something more than is in the applied manual (so they'll have an edge on the
students) and to give them a few demonstration tools that should help simplify
some of the more complex ideas.
Like most 3D Studio instructors – I'm turning into an evangelist. As Mark
Gerhard said at last years Siggraph presentations:
"Quit your job and do 3D Studio all day…"

Anyway, thanks Roger. I'm in the middle of writing the book now, and a little
encouragement makes all the difference.
Talk to you soon.

Nancy….
The instructor's guides are really good to show the instructor's how to
use the student books. Also so they do not have to start from scratch when
developing some course outlines. How to use the books in short intensive
courses and in longer semesterial courses.
Can you tell I've done an instructor's guide lately?
Writing books for the instructor may not sell a million copies to
instructors but it will sure help the sales of the actual student book. It also
helps to explain the reasoning behind developing courses in certain a manner,
what's the logic. The better the publisher shows the instructors how the books
should be used, the better they will be used. Sales go up (of books and 3D
Studio). All around a good idea.
It's just noce to see whan publishers are thinging on how their books
will be used in instructional situations.
