Thanks for uploading SCRAMmer, however it doesn't work on my 4000. The program itself runs, I set the disk thing to 2 seconds, quit the program, do a cold boot, and my 2nd hard drive still doesn't show up. Jim R. Ollick Using AP from Bergenfield, NJ

I didn't see the beginning of the thread, but if his is a "my 2nd IDE drive doesn't mount on cold-boot" question, the answer is: forget it. Commodore acknowledged a flaw in AmigaDOS 3.0 back in November. The problem was supposed to be fixed in AmigaDOS 3.1 which was due to have been shipped this past January. It wasn't. A warm-boot after your initial cold-boot is the only way to get the second IDE drive to mount. You get used to it after a while. Jerry

By "It wasn't." do you mean it wasn't shipped or it wasn't fixed in 3.1? Jim R. Ollick Using AP from Bergenfield, NJ

I've had two IDE drives in my 4000 for quite a while – the stock 120MB and a 340MB Conner. It recognized them just fine. However, when my Conner died and I replaced it with a Western Digital 420MB, the Amiga wouldn't recognize the 420MB Drive on a cold boot, even if it was the only drive in the system. I don't think it's a problem with the OS, these bigger drives just don't spin up fast enough. Kevin Ragsdale

"I don't think it's a problem with the OS, these bigger drives just don't spin up fast enough." The folks who were once at Commodore and brought my machine inhouse disagree with that theory. They flatly stated in was a bug in AmigaDOS 3.0. Jerry

"By "It wasn't." do you mean it wasn't shipped or it wasn't fixed in 3.1?" To the best of my knowledge, AmigaDOS 3.1 never shipped, so there's no way to know if it was fixed. Surprisingly I've gotten used to doing the warm-boot. Jerry

Sorry SCRAMmer didn't work out for you Jim, but it was worth a try anyway! // John (Speeding on the Information Superhighway) \X/ Mercury@ins.infonet.net
