OK I give up on this one. Another simple question from the Big Sky country. How do I fade an object in and out of a scene like you do in V Post? Hiding it is too fast. I am looking for a gentle fading DURING animation movement. I have thought of fog but that cannot be the way. S….

How about trying a material morph? You could morph the existing material of the object to one with 100% transparency.

you can use the vary.sxp as an opacity map. ara

I've used material morphing to good effect. But move the object with 100% transparency out of camera view as is can have the effect of a matte object.

S >>How do I fade an object in and out of a scene like you do in V Post?<< There are cuple of ways to fade an object in and out. The easiest is to create a duplicate object of the object to be faded. This dublicate object should have a perfectly clear (with no shine) material assigned to it. Then in the Keyframer do a material morph from one object to the other (material morph is an option under Morph). This allows you to fade over as many or as few frames as you like. Another way to do this fade is to create an animation that fade from white to black or black to whiel over so many frames then use it as an opasity map for any particular material. In either case once an object is faded out or fully transparent, use a Hide key so 3DS dose not have to calculate it's transparency for every frame. Good luck Zac (AZ-TECH) Berkeley

l Good ideas all. Thanks for the input. I was kinda thinking that morphing was probably the way to go. …SW exit

I agree that a material morph is the easier and more controlled way to go. Have fun 🙂 Zac (AZ-TECH) Berkeley

try morphing to black
