#ATI problems

Some of us have had other problems in getting AniPro to work with
the regular ATI VGA Wonder board. Indeed, the ATI people told me that they
had to put together a special VVESA.COM to interface with AniPro.
But this is not the end of it. A number of us have been having
problems with mouse movements leaving behind a trail of noisy pixels. These
have been encountered by people using different computers, and in my case,
persisted when I switched to an Orchid video card. My clone is a major
brand (Northgate), and they went to a great deal of trouble searching for
anything in the computer which might have been at the root of the problem.
It is perfectly obvious to me that there *is* a problem in AniPro's
implementation of Vesa. It works for most people but is evidently querky
and insufficiently resilient and robust. No doubt it is difficult to
apportion the blame for these malfunctions within the menage-a-trois of the
Program, the Video board, and the Clone, but it seems clear to me that
Autodesk is a contributor to the problem.
Worst of all is the treatment I have received from Autodesk when
advising them of this problem on compuserve. I uploaded a .GIF image of
the problem together with a complete listing of computer statistics,
settings, config contents, etc, plus a list of what I had tried to correct
it. This was ignored. I uploaded a second message a few weeks later,
simply asking 'look, if this situation is hopeless, please so advise me so
that I may decide whether I should upgrade the computer. —-Dead silence.
A voice phone complaint of the problem I made later was equally
unproductive It really is discouraging when a company won't *come clean*
concerning glitches when theu arise. I am amazed and discouraged that
Autodesk should behave in this way.

Stephen,
Unfortunately, with the infinite number of combinations of motherboards,
disk controllers, and vga cards available for PC clones, there is no way
that we can guarantee compatibility with 100% of the system configurations
that are out there. This is why we actually list compatibility
requirements in our literature.
I'm sorry about your situation, and the only thing I can suggest is that
you take the product back to your dealer and ask for a refund. I'm sure
that we can do that much, at least.
