#Animate animals
6 messages in this thread
I too have been perplexed by the complexity of trying to create
lifelike animal animations and as such have given up except for two
possibilities you might consider. Mannequin- will automate
wireframes of basic movements for humans that can be morphed in 3DS.
Morph is a bitmapped based software that has just been released for
the PC two weeks ago and is selling for $74.00. It can be used to
create morph transitions as well as warp of a given image then render
sequentially numbered TGA's or develop a FLC file in 8 bit. This is
the same as has been available on the MAC for six months now and what
you see in the movies and commercials special effects. The low price
is intro only and was available at comdex. I'll let you know how it
works when it arrives. I saw the software turn a child into an old
man through several stages of growing old.
Who puts out this Software and from whom can one buy it?

Don:
For a much higher quality PC morphing program, look at BlackBelt's
WinImages:Morph. We have been using it here for a while, has many more
options, and IMHO, higher quality, and lists at only $199!!
Runs under Windows, but don't hold that against it! Quick morphs, animated
(moving) morphs, time and velocity control, etc.
Full 24 bit, any resolution, point morphing, edge boundries, etc. Should
take you about 15 minutes to get up and running and familiar with.

There is a good morphing program available here on compuserve in the graphics
development forum I beleive. I was very impressed. I read about it in
Compuserve Mag about 2 or 3 months ago and downloaded it. I would recommend
checking it out.

You are probably referring to DMORF? Same author as DTA. Good shareware,
but even he admits that BlackBelt has a few things going for it. Animated
morphs are a real pain with dmorf, for example.
The ability to do point morphing is helpful, also, instead of mesh only.

PMJI – Greg, could you provide a phone number/CIS id for BlackBelt. Thanks.
