#Installing Fuji 345meg

I just ordered a 345 meg SCSI from a guy who bought a shipment of ten
of them with no documentation of any kind. I am using an Amiga 3000
and I looked in my manual for advice on replacing my 50 meg quantum
with this new monster Fuji. It says, "Refer to the manual for your
hard drive for specific information on how to configure the jumpers
for your paticular drive." Yikes! What now? Is there any good
reference source on installing Fuji scsi drives in an Amiga? Does
anyone know if Fujitsu has a BBS from which I could download tech
specs on the drive I have just bought?
I had this same problem on a big fuji scsi drive, basically all you
have to do is set the drive id, you can leave the small drive in and
set the big drive up as id 1,2,3,4 etc etc… I managed to get the
instructions for the scsi ids from Hard Drives International. They
were very helpful, even though I didn't buy the drive from them, they
faxed me a copy of the setup sheet and were willing to talk me
through the setup. it was really simple…
I don't have thier number in front of me, I managed to get it out of computer
shopper…
James, Once again you are my guru (and I don't mean a software bug <G>
). Thanks so much for the tip on the Fuji drive and HD
International. I hope they are as helpful to me as they were for
you. I got a great deal on the drive (345 megs for $375) so I could
not resist. I am now building a Toaster system in my A3000 and I am
about to climb a might learning curve wall. The Toaster was part of
the flotsam we now see in the wake of the imminent release of the
Toaster 4000. I got it from a guy on fido net for $1400. Again,
thanks. It is guys like you that make using Compuserve a pleasant
learning experience (except when the bill comes!).
BTW, with that big an HD and the puny power supply of the A3000, you may
want to look for a 200watt or larger PS (as I recall the 3000 was
115watt?)

Wayne, I may get back to you when the drive arrives. I took you up on your
advice about the power supply. I ordered a new 200 watt one for the A3000 from
a company in Nebraska. Thanks for the help.

I have yet to buy a hard drive that comes with documentation. Usually you
can locate the address jumpers and terminators easily. The rest of the
jumpers are usually safe to leave in manufacturers defaults.
