Me thinks that the new section names are too confusing.
CDROM Forum – Messages (and libraries)
1 General
2 Titles
3 Macintosh
4 DOS, Windows, OS/2
5 Networking
6 Stand-Alone Pltfrms
7 Drives/Hardware
8 CDROM Production
9 Industry News
10 Marketplace
11 TBA
12 Nautilus
13 Standards
14 OPA
I'd rather see something like:
1 General
2 Macintosh Specific
3 DOS/Windows/OS2 Specific
4 Drives/Controllers/Hardware
5 Drivers/Software
6 Games on CD
7 Business on CD
8 Art/Graphics on CD
9 CD's for sale/trade
10 Making CD's
11 Nautilus

I appreciate your comments. I have considered the "subject-based" approach to
the CDROM products area; the problem is – where do you stop. For example, you
omitted education, graphic arts, library applications, in-house publishing,
etc. Subject categories cross lines and and seem to expand almost infinitely
the closer you look at them. I would hate to limit by having a too-confined
list. But you are probably right that we need to find a way to help people
deal with these specialized products.

One way is a good set of Descriptions of the sections in the Descriptions area
of the forum. though I wonder how many people ever really look at them.

The nnouncements, notices and descriptions were a major effort in launching the
CDROM Vendors Forum. The notices in this Forum are being changed – it has been
a looong time since they've received any attention!

Thanks for your reply!
Unless you make the section names more specific, without getting too technical,
you're (we're) going to find subjects all over the place.
Maybe you want to make a contest out of this. Put up a message for X hours of
freebie CIS time for the user who suggestion of section names is closest to
what actually gets implemented.

go into BUSINESS ON CD, or GRAPHICS ON CD.
