#Electrahome Question

Hello,
I've recently purchased an Amiga 4000/30 and am VERY happy with it.
However, Since I upgraded from an Amiga 500, I am still using an old
1084SD Monitor. I'm soon going to buy a monitor for my Amiga 4000 and was
lookign at the Electrahome 1962. I've heard conflicting reports on this
monitor. Some say it's a tri-scan others say it's a real multi-scan. Can
anyone tell me the REAL info on this monitor as it looks quite nice for
the price. Thanks.

It doesn't matter whether it is multi-scan or tri-scan. If it handles all
standard AGA and ECS Amiga modes (which is the claim and which I haven't
seen adverse reports about), then it is effectively exactly what you need.

The reason I'd like to know if it's Multiscan is I want to buy a monitor
that will work should I buy a 3rd party graphics card. Right now, Yes I'd
be happy, but I'm thinking about possible upgrades and the future. A
Tri-scan would limit me I think. While a true multisync would be much
more flexible as far as my options for graphic add ons in the future.

You can't buy a monitor that will do everything. A monitor which syncs to
every Amiga mode is lousy for the new graphics cards because it is
incapable of syncing to the frequencies required for high-resolution
displays (i.e., 800×600 NI, 1024×800 NI, 1280×1024 NI, etc.). If you get
a third party graphics card, the only mode you are going to use on your
monitor is the highest one (until you decide to buy a real monitor to take
advantage of your new graphics power). So who cares if it is trisync or
multiscan to lower frequencies?

Craig,
If it helps, I have a 1962 and it is superb, however it was a bit
pricey. Anyhow, I have it hooked up to both my Amiga and PC and it
performs flawlessly so far.
