Dear Craig,
At this time, you cannot use the Song Parameters with SuperJAM! This is
because, the Song Parameter feature was written long before SuperJAM! I'll
pass your suggestion onto R&D, though.

Hi Melissa,
Another idea might be for a SuperJAM accessory, like the one for
Bars & Pipes, that would import a standard MIDI or B & P score or track
into the SuperJAM environment…

It would be somewhat difficult to import files into SuperJAM!, since it
composes based on musical information, such as chord, tempo, and key,
instead of actual MIDI data. Nonetheless, I will happily send your
suggestion on.

Yah, BUT…
SuperJAM!, though, *could* scan a B&P file and absorb the master
parameters, disregarding the (irrelevant-to-it) notes in the file.
Gotta say, I agree that making the "SuperJAM! street" two-way sounds
attractive to me as well.

Bob said what I meant — just use the chord change,key change,
tempo, and so on. It would be much better than Accompany B or B+. I don't
know if the Standard MIDI spec saves chord & key data, but it would be
excellant if SuperJAM could read a B&P score, and allow me to crank out
"the reggae version", "the bossanova version", "the rollerdisco version",
etc. of a given song just by doing a couple of mouse clicks from SuperJAM.

The reason for Blue Ribbon's original answer to you is that no, MIDI
doesn't store such information as chords and key changes- those are what is
usually termed, in the software biz, as "metadata," rather than data. The
*data* in a MIDI file consists of the individual notes and things which
affect them, such as controller messages.
Bars and Pipes *and* SuperJAM!, though, also deal in metadata which can be
used to *derive* or *modify* individual notes, such as- tada!- chords and
key changes! That's why I reminded BR that they *could* provide interchange
of this data between B&P and SJ, if they use the "native" file formats (or
"direct" communications between the programs) as an interchange medium. In
this case the data itself- the notes- would be not only insufficient, but
actually irrelevant.
Don't know if you were interested in this level of detail, but I thought
you might be.
