#3D-Studio needs AutoCAD?

Mark I'm not 100% sure but I think you have to be a _Full-time_ student to get
a student version of 3D Studio. Another point… if your "Student" Version is
being used for Production work.. it's WRONG!
You can do what you want with your student version for your own purpurposes but
If you want to dispense advice you should be a bit more selective about how
Technically Correct/Proper it is.
Yes the Student versions are a good Deal.
Yes Autodesk would like to help students learn all about 3D Studio.
But You have to Grow up and accept the Responsibility's the rest of the 3DS
community at large has to live with.
Your former statement Also tells me your not consistant…didn't you just just
cynicly make a comment to Jeff about his statement regarding a lost manual????
It's my understanding that Jeff Did Really Misplace his manual and was perhaps
a bit anxious to get his system up and running so he asked autodesk about a
replacement. You said something like "Ya' _that's_ a Good One!"….<g>.
My question to you would be> Since your a Student and own a Student Version
of 3D Studio have you ever used it to make any money???
If you have…I suggest that your on pretty shakey ground… I also suggest you
get a full blown UpGradable Resale Version of 3D Studio because your Student
Version is NOT upgradable and If I were your dealer I'd be less inclined to
give you the best possible price knowing that your making money with a
"Student" Version thereby Unfairly competing with my clients that are trying to
do the same thing with copies they paid "Regular" Prices for. Think about
it…your really not winning any freinds here. <g>
This is my Personal Opinion so Take it for what it's worth.
I Just Don't Appreciate your particular kind of Advice to someone who Has
allready announced he is planning on using 3D Studio for Commercial Purposes.

3DS for production work. At least, the Education folks at Autodesk say there
it is OK.

If the Educational Folks are saying that… I would like you to get me specific
Names because I think somebody needs a good "Jacking UP"<g>.
As you know I'm not too particularly fond of a certain person in that
department that like's to talk down to people through her teeth….Kinda
reminds me of "Golum" in the Hobbit. <BG>

So coming back to your statement:

Whether or not the actual language is worded this way in the Student License
copys, I beleive the _Intent_ is Very Clear.

yup, I agree with you,
here in Montreal, if you get a student version you are not expected to make
money with it. But then again, if you go ahead and start making money, you are
taking a chance, if a disgruntled customer gets wind you are using a student
version, well, hey that is chance they took, and they'll pay for it!, if you
are making money, it is a big mistake to use a student version, you cheat, be
willing to pay the price. I guess it depends on the honesty of people using it.
Oh well, just my 2 cents worth, minus 39.7% ( U.S. exchange) geez, that doesn't
leave much does it! … ouch!

Regarding the "Pool" actually ever since I saw a bunch of Guys throw Philip
Kahn in wearing a full Tux I thought it'd be a Hoot.
Of course I guess it depends on who actually OWNS the Tux….<g>.
Let's see now… I suggested that at least 3 or 4 forum members take the
plunge..that means.. _I_.. probably better have my wife pack an extra dry pair
of shorts and an appropriate T-Shirt at all times, cause I might just get
ambushed. <g>

Before I jump on my trusty steed and tilt the windmills, I'd better
double check my sources. I was told at one point that there was no
constraint on commercial use of 3DS/Educational — but that may have
changed. I agree that the educational program has good intentions,
but you know what they say about good intentions…

Good Intentions…..I've always thought I should do an Animation based on that
theme..the only thing that kept me from doing so is that I couldn't afford to
hire Weird Al To do the Pair-o-deee….I beleive it's legal to Parady popular
Known songs. In this case it would be a take off on "Good Vibrations"….
Substituting "Good Intentions" and doing a lot of Hell-Fire
