Fastest Video Card ?

You seem to have tried alot of video cards, so I thought I'd direct this to
you… I've seen your comments on the Diamond Stealth 64, and I'm looking to
make a purchasing decision about a new video card right now.
In many different benchmarks I've seen, the Stealth actually has below-average
DOS-based performance (although arguably the fastest inside of Windows),
running slower than much less-expensive cards. It seems to me that it is NOT
the best choice for people trying to wring the best speed out of 3DS Release 4
(for the time being, still DOS-based).
I'd appreciate getting your comments on this…

I understand your point ie. Windows vs DOS speed. I also consider the stability
of the card in point. For example, the ATI MAch 64 card has great DOS
benchmarks I wouldn't own one simply because ATI is in the habit of releasing
buggy drivers and setup is a pain to boot and the performance difference while
a tad better than that of the Orchid PCI 64 4mg or the Stealth 64 4mg the
difference doesn't warrant the hastle. That is if ATI saves you a few
nanoseconds but it takes hours of hassles then are we really saving any time ?
